At Blake Nelson, DDS, we help patients achieve their best smiles with cosmetic dentistry. The patient you see here presented with teeth that were brown and spotted, which she disliked. After reviewing her treatment options with Dr. Nelson, she elected to have composite veneers placed to replace the aesthetically unappealing tooth structure. This served as a more conservative and less expensive treatment option than traditional porcelain veneers, yet still delivered a gorgeous result.
Understanding Veneer Transformations
Dental veneers can help you redesign your smile and eliminate minor cosmetic dental flaws, such as:
- Stained or discolored teeth
- Tooth size or shape discrepancies
- Gaps between teeth
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Excessively worn teeth
- Slight tooth misalignment issues
There are two primary types of dental veneers: composite and porcelain. While both types of veneers fix similar concerns, there are some significant differences between the two procedures.
Composite Veneers in Winston-Salem
Dr. Nelson can use a customizable composite resin to add to your tooth and address the concerns mentioned above. Composite veneers are non-invasive and can typically be completed during one visit to our dental office. Composite veneers don't require the removal of tooth structure and aren't considered a permanent solution. They'll likely need replacing in seven to ten years. This type of veneer is also less expensive than porcelain veneers created in a dental lab.
Porcelain Veneers in Winston-Salem for Complete Smile Transformations
Porcelain veneers are custom slivers of ceramic porcelain customized to fit over the front surface of your teeth. This requires Dr. Nelson to remove a small amount of tooth structure to ensure proper fit of the porcelain veneer, which can ultimately change the shape, color, and size of your teeth for a complete smile redesign.
It typically takes a few weeks and two appointments at our dental office to complete porcelain veneers, which a technician actually handcrafts in a dental lab.
