Tooth Extractions in Winston-Salem

How could I benefit from a dental extraction (tooth removal)?

Our office’s goal is to help patients keep their natural teeth for as long as possible.  Winston Salem Dental Office Offering Extractions

Sometimes, extraction is indicated for the benefit of the patient's dental and physical health. After addressing all other options, sometimes it is in the best interest of the patient's dental and overall physical health that a tooth is removed. It is a very common treatment, in fact, most of our team has had teeth removed during their lifetime.

How do you make sure the process is as comfortable as possible?

We use painless numbing techniques. During any treatment, Dr. Benton and Dr. Nelson pride themselves on using state-of-the-art techniques to deliver painless numbing.

Quick, comfortable, and predictable treatment is our goal. Our office has all of the latest equipment and your procedure will be completed in a quick, comfortable and predictable manner.

Medications to stay pain-free while recovering. We will give you the best medications in a customized pain-control protocol to stay comfortable after the procedure. Our team will also review how to take care of your mouth in the days following extractions.

Calming nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available. For patients with anxiety, nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” will help eliminate nervousness and promote a more calm, tranquil state of mind.

We offer stress-free sedation dentistry. Dr. Nelson is one of the only general dentists in the Winston-Salem and Piedmont Triad area who is trained and licensed in all forms of sedation dentistry. Patients are always given the option to choose dental sedation during their procedures to guarantee a stress-free experience. In fact, most patients say that going to the dentist was never easier and that they have no memory of the procedure at all!

What if I don’t want to go without my tooth? I need it to smile!

We have many temporary and permanent options to replace your tooth. Before any extraction procedure, Drs. Benton and Nelson will explain all of your treatment options to replace your tooth such as dental implants, dental bridges, or dentures.. We will provide both temporary and permanent replacement choices for function and esthetics.

We offer same-day tooth replacement so you can go home with a smile.  If desired, you will be able to go home with a temporary replacement tooth the same day as the procedure, so you can always smile with confidence!

Why did the dentist recommend a bone graft with my tooth removal procedure?

Bone grafts are a way to preserve surrounding structures:

A bone graft or “socket preservation” is a simple procedure that can be performed to maintain the architecture of your natural bone. The process allows your body to rebuild bone to replace the lost tooth.

Bone grafts will improve outcomes with a replacement tooth

Dr. Nelson is highly trained in different bone grafting procedures to ensure that you have the support to receive a dental implant or bridge in the future.  Placing a bone graft at the time of extraction is the easiest and most effective opportunity to preserve your bone and gum tissue.
